Personal Essay & Memoir:
Writing Home

"Perhaps," James Baldwin mused, "home is not a place but simply an irrevocable condition."

In this 6-week nonfiction workshop, we'll explore in writing the people, places, and dynamics that have shaped who we are and how we perceive the world.

Each week, we'll look at how contemporary writers address the complex issues of home and use their examples to develop our own original work. Class time will include reading, discussion, writing, and individual feedback. As our material takes shape, we'll discuss how a short piece of writing might grow into a complete essay or longer work.

All levels welcome. Ideal for those just starting out, and for writers looking to deepen an existing project.
