Writing for Publications:
How To Become A Travel Writer
Travel writing is a highly competitive industry and a dream job for many people. In this 4-week course led by widely published travel writer Alyssa Pinsker, participants will explore the ins and outs of the travel writing business, including planning your destination, the art of the pitch, how to contact an editor and how to get your work published. We'll also take a look at the different genres of travel writing--the travel essay, round-up, and destination piece--and leave with a completed story idea pitch to a real-life editor that is ready to be submitted.
Writers are encouraged to bring in ideas, writing, and notes from previous travels. All levels are welcome.
Alyssa Pinsker is a writer whose work has appeared in BBC Travel, Lonely Planet, Fodor's.com, Cosmopolitan.com, Time Out New York, New York Post, New York Daily News, New York Press, Huffington Post, Forward, Sherman’s Travel, and more.
