July 16th-July 20th
Teen Studio: July Summer Camp
Can you tell a true story in 130 characters? Write a short story in 150 words? Or an essay in the form of a list?
In this week-long camp, we'll draw our challenges from the world of literary magazines, specifically the contests, columns, and themed issues of well-known journals like McSweeney's, Tin House, Narrative, and Creative Nonfiction. We'll read inspiring examples in each category, and let fly with our own original contributions. Along the way, we'll get to know some of today's most respected journals and writers, read lots of amazing poems, short stories, and personal essays, and test our creativity on a whole new level.
Using the Studio's downtown headquarters as our home base, we'll spend time each day writing at Pearl Street's cafes and outdoor parks. At the end of the week, we'll host a reading of original work for friends & family.
Note: Teen Studio Summer Camp is limited to 6 writers, age 13 and up. All levels and genres welcome--register soon!
