Personal Essay: 6 Beginnings
If you've ever wondered about the personal essay--what it is or how you might write one--this class is for you.
In each week of this 6-week workshop, we'll read contemporary essays that tell their stories through a particular constraint--a portrait, a letter, a list, a collage--and use them as models for our own original work.
As we experiment with form, we'll use these structures to explore our natural writing voice and the material from our lives we're most curious about.
Workshop time will be devoted to readings, in-class writing, and constructive feedback on works in progress. Open to writers of all levels, this workshop is an ideal place to begin or expand your creative nonfiction practice.
